Cura
Terms of Use
Effective 30 October 2026 · Version 1.3
The short version. Cura is licensed to you, not sold. It is information and support, never medical advice — your midwife or doctor knows your pregnancy and Cura does not. The lifetime pass is one payment that never renews; the monthly plan renews until you cancel it in your Apple account, and starts with a free week that becomes a paid month unless you cancel before it ends. Apple handles all payments and refunds. What you write in Cura is yours. No account. Your notes are saved on your phone, not on a Cura server.
The rest of this page is the full agreement, including the terms Apple requires every app license to contain.
1. This agreement
These Terms of Use are a legal agreement between you and Cura Family LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Cura”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of the Cura mobile application and any updates to it (the “App”). By downloading or using the App you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the App.
Our handling of your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement. The short version of that document is that Cura keeps what you write on your own phone and has no server to send it to.
2. Cura is not medical advice
This is the most important term on the page. The App provides general information and support during pregnancy. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, not a medical device, and not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. Week-by-week measurements and timings are population averages and may not describe your pregnancy.
Always follow the guidance of your own midwife, doctor or clinic. Never delay seeking care, or disregard advice you have been given, because of something you read in the App. Never use the App in an emergency — contact your provider or emergency services immediately.
Clinical content is written in our own words from public guidance and each entry carries its source and the date it was last checked. Cura is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of the organizations it cites.
3. Your license
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The App is licensed to you, not sold.
You may not:
- copy, resell, rent, sublicense or otherwise distribute the App;
- reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
- remove or obscure any notice of ownership; or
- use the App to build a competing product, or to provide medical advice to anyone else.
We keep all rights we do not expressly grant you here, including every intellectual property right in the App and its content.
4. What you pay for
Everything in this section is also stated on the screen where you buy, before you buy. If the two ever disagree, tell us — they are meant to be the same.
- The lifetime pass is a single payment for permanent access on your Apple Account. It does not renew and there is nothing to cancel. It is offered at three prices — the full price and two reduced tiers for people who ask — and all three grant identical access.
- The monthly plan is an auto-renewing subscription. It renews each month at the price shown to you before purchase, and Apple charges your Apple Account within 24 hours of the end of each period, until you cancel. Canceling stops the next renewal and leaves your access open until the period you have already paid for ends. You cancel in your Apple account settings; we cannot do it for you, and buying the lifetime pass does not cancel a subscription for you either.
- The free week is Apple's introductory offer on the monthly plan. Starting it starts the subscription: your Apple Account is on file, the first seven days are free, and at the end of them Apple charges the monthly price and keeps charging it every month until you cancel. Canceling at any point during the free week costs nothing. The App reminds you two days before it ends. Apple decides who is eligible — one free week per Apple Account, and the lifetime pass does not include one.
- The first year. Both plans cover everything Cura offers after a birth, including the first-year log, on the same terms as everything else: the lifetime pass with no further payment, the monthly plan for as long as it runs. Nothing about the first year is sold separately, and anything you write in the log stays readable if a plan later ends.
- Reduced and free access. Where we offer a lower price or a period of free access, it is given in good faith and on trust. We may change or withdraw those offers for future users; access already granted to you is not taken back.
Payments and refunds are handled entirely by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. We never see your payment details and cannot issue a refund ourselves. Prices vary by storefront and may change; the price shown to you at the moment of purchase is the price that applies.
5. What you write stays yours
Journal entries, photos, notes and everything else you enter remain yours. We claim no ownership of them and no license to use them, which is straightforward to promise because they are saved on your device, not on a Cura server — we could not read them if we wanted to.
The consequence is that safekeeping is yours too. Cura keeps no copy anywhere else, so if you delete the App, erase your data, or lose or replace the device, we cannot recover any of it. Your way back is a copy you keep: a backup file you export from the App, or your phone’s own backup (such as iCloud Backup). That backup usually includes Cura’s data, but Apple or Google makes and keeps it, not us, and we cannot check or guarantee it. Backup files you export are unencrypted; look after them the way you would look after a diary.
6. Availability and changes
We may update, change or withdraw parts of the App. If we withdraw something you have already paid for, we will not treat that as your problem. We may also update these terms; if a change materially affects your rights, we will bring it to your attention in the App rather than publish it quietly here, and the effective date above will change.
We do not promise the App will always be available or error-free. It runs on your device and depends on your device.
7. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, you have statutory rights that these terms do not affect.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cura will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for it or twenty-five US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Ending this agreement
You may end it at any time by deleting the App. It ends automatically if you breach it. Sections 2, 5, 7, 8 and 10 survive the end of this agreement.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of Texas will have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or another jurisdiction whose law gives you the benefit of mandatory local consumer protections and the right to bring proceedings in your own local courts, nothing here removes those rights.
11. Apple's part of this agreement
Apple requires the following terms in the license for every app distributed through the App Store.
- This agreement is with us, not Apple. These terms are between you and Cura Family LLC only. Apple is not a party to them and is not responsible for the App or its content.
- Scope of license. The license granted in section 3 is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Maintenance and support. Cura Family LLC is solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the App. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support services for it.
- Warranty. Cura Family LLC is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are Cura Family LLC's sole responsibility.
- Product claims. Cura Family LLC, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the App or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the App fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the App or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Cura Family LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement and discharge of that claim.
- Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Contact. Questions, complaints and claims about the App go to Cura Family LLC at support@cura.family.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the App.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance of them Apple will have the right — and is deemed to have accepted the right — to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
